Open positions

Civil and Survey Technician

Work from home and out in the field! We are 100% remote, based out of  Sonoma County, and are looking for another team member to join our diverse small business.


Responsibilities include creating Grading and Drainage Plans, Septic System Designs, Topographic Maps, and associated reports based on work orders and red-lines provided.  


Field work to include Topographic Surveys and Construction Staking, as well as setup and running of Percolation and Groundwater Tests on job sites.

The Work

  • Liaise with engineers to create Grading and Drainage plans, Septic System plans, and general site plans and other CAD work.
  • Perform calculations required to develop grading, drainage, and septic system plans.
  • Follow production methods and design procedures step-by-step.
  • Create detailed designs with computer-aided design (CAD) software.
  • Draft diagrams, maps, and layouts to illustrate project design development.
  • Prepare and review rough sketches along with the engineering team.
  • Back-check own work and return to engineer without errors.
  • Identify potential design/construction issues  and redesign plans to improve functionality.
  • Clearly communicate any need for clarification of work requested of them. 
  • Ensure final designs comply with regulations and quality standards.
  • Perform topographic surveys on job sites and compose survey data/surfaces in CAD producing final topographic survey maps.
  • Conduct construction staking on job sites including office preparation of calculations points, field staking, and production of stake maps for contractors use.

Requirements

Education:   

BS in Engineering, Architecture, or degree from a technical college preferred.  


Experience:  

1 year of experience working at a Civil Engineering firm as a Survey Technician (or similar role.)


Computer Skills:  

Experience with - Adobe, AutoCAD Civil 3d, Word, Excel, & Outlook.


Certificates & Licenses:  

Driver’s license, Additional certification from the American Design Drafting Association (ADDA) is a plus. Engineering related certifications and licenses are a plus.
